I have a tradition of supporting organizations and programs that support marginalized communities, especially the queer community.

When I owned an independent bookstore (Adventure Bound Books, 2018-2023), the bookstore received a 1-star Google Review, being labeled by the reviewer as “the wokest bookstore east of the Mississippi”. Rather than let the comment and 1-star review deliver a negative blow to the bookstore, I took it as an opportunity to put into practice what the bookstore had always stated that we stood for. With the help of artists, I turned the review into coffee mugs that we sold at the bookstore, with proceeds being donated to The Trevor Project. And with great joy, I made an initial donation to The Trevor project in the name of the Google Reviewer and let them know in my reply to them.

It’s important to support the things that matter to us, and queer community, queer health, queer support and resources matter to me.
